Introduction to Freeview
A free digital service for Australia
Freeview is the exciting, FREE digital television service for Australia. It includes all of the channels from Australia’s free-to-air broadcasters, including ABC, SBS, Seven, Nine, Ten, Southern Cross, Prime and WIN.
Once the analogue television switch-off is complete in 2013, Freeview will become the standard television service across Australia.
The benefits of Freeview
Freeview offers high definition viewing with both SD and HD versions of most channels. As digital programmes expand, you will enjoy more channels with more entertainment and viewing options. And, you can enjoy the digital experience of better signal, sharper picture and superior sound.
Switching on to Freeview
If your television is already digital enabled with high definition, you can start enjoying the full Freeview experience immediately. With a standard definition (SD) television, you can receive most channels but will need to upgrade to high definition (HD) via a set top box or personal video recorder, to receive the full suite of channels.
If you have an analogue television set you won’t currently be able to access Freeview. Simply connect a high definition DGTEC set top box or personal video recorder.
